My Rockin' New Years!

Eric and I had a crazy, rockin' New Year's! So crazy and rockin' in fact I have no pictures! Wanna know what we did? We spent New Years Eve in Bridge City, Texas. Where is that you ask? About 10 miles south of Orange, Texas and 30 miles south of Beaumont, Texas. Population 8,651 (Yikes!!).

Why on earth would I be celebrating my New Years Eve and the start of a new year... a new decade... in a tiny podunk town on the Texas/Louisiana?

Well I actually asked myself that same exact question (many. many times over this whole weekend) and the only answer I have is dedication. You see a good friend of Eric's from Atlanta (the same friend that came down to go to ACL) owns his own construction biz with his dad. After Hurricane Ike hit Albert and his dad packed up and moves to Bridge City to help with the rebuild.

They decided they actually liked it there and because the construction biz is doing so well they had the opportunity to open a restaurant there (which is their dream). So we went to check out this restaurant (and give our honest opinion and advice).

And since Bridge City is such a hip hoppin' place we spent New Year's Eve at Albert's house watching the ball drop with his Dad, his brother, and his girlfriend. I would say this because there was no computers, bad cable TV, and absolutely nothing else to do in that town I was able start the Harry Potter series (one of my New Year's goals: to read the entire Harry Potter series back to back); play games on my phone (one of my only forms of entertainment) and kick back and relax! Aren't you jealous!

(if you strain real hard you can see that tiny read dot where Bridge City is supposed to be)
